VI Peel Pre & Post Care

Pre- & Post-Care:

VI PEEL

At Eluma, we offer four VI Peel blends to address a variety of skin concerns: Original (Sensitive/First Timers), Advanced (Aging Skin), Purify (Acne), and Precision Plus Peptides (Discoloration/Sun Damage).

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR VI PEEL:
    • Avoid microneedling 2-4 weeks before VI Peel
    • Avoid sun exposure 1 week before VI Peel. Make sure to wear SPF 30+ daily.
    • Avoid waxing, threading, or depilatory creams for 10-14 days before VI Peel.
    • Avoid electrolysis and laser treatments for 2 weeks before and after VI Peel.
    • Avoid using a Retin-A/Retinol/Tretinoin and any other exfoliating acids 1 week before VI Peel.
    • While certain fillers and neurotoxins (like Botox, Dysport, etc) may be done same day, if you get this done BEFORE your peel it must be 2 weeks BEFORE the peel or 7-10 days AFTER the peel.
    • The peel will have to be left on for four hours after application, so make sure to take that into account when scheduling your appointment.
    • Peeling generally begins day 2 or 3.  On rare occasions, peeling may not begin until day four. Not everyone has a lot of peeling, it could just look like dry, flakey skin. Make sure to take this into account and avoid planning special events for one week.
      • Peeling is shedding or sloughing off of the skin. DO NOT SCRUB, PICK, OR PULL AT SKIN. Scrubbing, picking, or pulling at skin can result in infection, redness, irritation or hyperpigmentation.
WHAT TO EXPECT POST-TREATMENT:
  • Immediately following the peel, the skin may appear tan, red, or yellow. You will have to wash the peel off after 4 hours at home.
  • Peeling most often occurs around day 2 or 3, sometimes 4. The amount of peeling/flaking varies per patient.
POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
  • Once 4 hours post peel application has passed, rinse off the peel solution with cool/tepid water. DO NOT USE HOT WATER.
  • Since each peel formula comes with instructions and different steps, please follow either your VI Peel app or the physical instructions given to you in your aftercare kit. Follow the steps carefully and exactly for best results!
  • Use only the kit of VI Products during the next 7 – 10 days. If you run out use a gentle non-retinol/acid/exfoliating cleanser and moisturizer.
  • During the time before and after you start peeling; do not excessively soak treated areas. This will cause premature peeling.
  • Protect your investment and avoid sunlight during the peeling phase. Always use SPF of 30 or higher daily. Wear hats or protective clothing when in the sun, even after peeling is complete.
  • Do not have any facial treatments (even waxing) for at least 2 weeks after you have finished peeling.
  • Do not use anything on your face that is likely to burn or sting.
  • Resuming Skin Care Products:
    • Non-Actives: Can be resumed once peeling has subsided, usually day 6-7.
    • Actives: Can be resumed once peeling has subsided and sensitivity has returned to normal, usually day 7-10.
    • Physical Activity/Exercise:
      • Refrain for 72-96 hours after peel application. Inducing excessive perspiration can lead to PIH or blistering
  • Scheduling the Next VI Peel: VI Peels should be scheduled every 4-6 weeks (for best results) until your skin goals are achieved.

COMBINATION THERAPY SCHEDULING GUIDE:
  • Injectables:
    • Neurotoxins: Same day (VI Peel then tox) or 1 week post peel. Botox/toxin prevents wrinkle formation and VI Peel fades existing wrinkles.
    • Lip Filler: Same day before peel, 1 week after peel, or 2 weeks before peel.
    • Other Fillers: 1 week after peel or 2 weeks before peel. Fillers lift and VI Peel tightens and smooths the skin.
    • Sculptra: 2 weeks after peel. Volumize and restore epidermal skin health.
    • Kybella/PCDC: 2 weeks after peel. Kybella/PCDC eliminates fat cells then VI Peel firms and tightens the skin.
  • Laser Treatments:
    • Ablative Laser (CO2, Erbium, Pico, etc): 2-3 weeks after peel. VI Peel can help work as a pretreatment.
    • Non-Ablative/Fractional Laser (MOXI, Pico, etc): 2-3 weeks after peel. VI Peel improves laser penetration by prepping the skin through exfoliation.
    • BBL/IPL: 2 weeks after peel. VI Peel can help enhance light absorption from the laser.
    • Laser Hair Removal: 2 weeks after peel. VI Peels can help post laser breakouts.
    • Ultherapy: 2 weeks after peel. Laser increases collagen while VI Peels lift pigment and stimulates collagen.
  • Facial Treaments:
    • General Facials: 7-10 days after VI Peel: VI Peels clear dead skin cells allowing for easier extractions.
    • Dermaplaning: Can be done same day but preferred 14+ days after VI Peel. Since dermaplaning increases product penetration, it can make the skin too sensitive. Both will help textural irregularities.
    • Hydrofacial: 2 weeks after peel. Hydrofacial will enhance the glow of the peel.
  • Microneedling:
    • Standard Microneedling: 2 weeks after peel. Microneedling can break up pigment that might not have been fully lifted from the peel.
    • RF Microneedling: 2 weeks after peel. Microneedling can break up pigment that might not have been fully lifted from the peel.
