RF Microneedling Pre & Post Care

Pre- & Post-Care:

RF Microneedling

RF (Radiofrequency) Microneedling combines the benefits of traditional microneedling with innovative radiofrequency technology. This treatment involves using fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating natural collagen production. The added radiofrequency energy enhances this process, significantly improving skin texture, firmness, and overall appearance.

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR RF MICRONEEDLING:
  • Avoid skin irritation or intentional skin tanning. Sun-screen is advisable when outdoors during daylight hours. If you arrive with a fresh tan or sunburn, the treatment will have to be rescheduled.
  • Discontinue any irritant topical agents for 1 week prior to treatment, including retinol/retinA/tretinoin, exfoliating acids (BHA, AHA), vitamin c, glycolic acid, etc.
  • Avoid harsh procedures like waxing, peels, or additional lasers at least two weeks before your treatment.
  • Avoid alcohol and smoking, which can delay healing.
  • Avoid blood thinners like aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E (unless medically necessary).
  • Arrive for treatment with clean skin. There should be no lotion, make-up, perfume, powder or bath/shower oil present on the skin in the area to be treated. The only exception is if you were given numbing cream, if you were please apply it to treatment area 30 minutes prior to your arrival.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, please notify us before your treatment so we can prescribe antiviral agents for you to start taking prior to the day of your treatment.

RF Microneedling should not be considered if you are pregnant or lactating, have a defibrillator, metal implants, pacemaker, auto-immune disease, cancer, or skin disease.

WHAT TO EXPECT POST-TREATMENT FOR RF MICRONEEDLING:
  • Following your treatment, your skin may appear red and feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn. Some patients also experience tightness, dryness, and mild swelling, which typically subsides within 72 hours. While discomfort is minimal, how you treat your skin during this time has a lasting effect on your results.

  • It’s normal for mild flaking or peeling to occur after a few days. Let the skin exfoliate naturally; do not pick or scrub.

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR RF MICRONEEDLING:
  • For the first two days, cleanse the skin with nothing but water. On the third and following days, use a gentle cleanser on the skin to wash and pat dry with a soft clean towel. Tiny scabs may appear during the healing process. Please do not pick at the scabs.
  • Refrain from exfoliating or using active skincare products for at least 1 week. Use ONLY gentle, non-irritating products for at least 1 week. We recommend using something like Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar to further support the collagen and elastin production start by your treatment.
  • Avoid wearing makeup for at least 24 hours.
  • Skip intense workouts and hot showers for the first 48 hours. Avoid saunas, hot tubs, and pools for at least 1 week.
  • Protect your skin from all UV exposure. Use an SPF of 30+ and reapply every two hours.
  • Staying hydrated is extremely important so make sure to drink plenty of water!
  • We recommend repeating your treatment in 4-6 weeks, and for best results a series of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
  • If you were treated with VAMP, Exosomes, or Growth factors, do not wash face or apply any products for 12-24 hours. Make sure to avoid touching the face. This allows these topical treatments soak in fully and washing them off too soon can may decrease their potency.
  • Results from RF microneedling may take up to 6 months after last treatment to fully manifest as collagen remodeling occurs gradually. Be patient and consistent with your skincare routine to achieve optimal outcomes.
