WHAT IS SKINVIVE?
SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM is the first and only injectable treatment that delivers microdroplets of hyaluronic acid to the skin of adults over the age of 21. Unlike other facial injectables that enhance and augment the treatment area, SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM improves skin quality in the cheeks by smoothing the skin and increasing hydration. Patients treated with SKINVIVE report high satisfaction with their skin, and use words like “glowing,” “refreshed,” and “healthy” to describe how their skin looks after treatment and over the course of six months.
WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR SKINVIVE?
Skinvive is approved for all Fitzpatrick skin types (I-VI), so anyone looking for a boost can benefit. Anyone who is noticing skin dullness or is looking to improve cheek smoothness and increase hydration within the skin to improve skin quality would be good candidates.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BE TREATED?
Approximately 45 minutes from start to finish
HOW IS THE TREATMENT PERFORMED?
First, you’ll meet with your provider to chat about your medical history and treatment goals. This will help your provider determine if you’re a suitable candidate for treatment. (Pro Tip: come to the office without makeup on!) Then, your provider will examine your facial skin, take photos, and—if they think you’re a suitable candidate—the provider will apply a topical numbing cream. Next, the treatment area will be cleaned and prepared with an antiseptic, and the provider will mark the treatment area.
After the first injection, your provider will wait a few seconds before moving forward with treatment. SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM contains lidocaine to reduce injection site pain, and this break in treatment allows time for the anesthetic to take effect. Then the provider will inject microdroplets into the treatment area. Afterwards, they may massage the area gently to make sure that the product is evenly distributed, then apply ice to minimize swelling and reduce pain.
DOES IT HURT?
As previously mentioned, SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM contains lidocaine to reduce injection site pain. Additionally, you will be provided topical numbing cream to reduce any discomfort. Ice may be applied for a brief period following treatment to minimize swelling and reduce pain.
HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?
While individual results may vary, results may last for six months. A thorough at home skin care regimen can prolong the results.
WHAT SHOULD I DO (OR NOT DO) AFTER MY TREATMENT?
For the first 24 hours after treatment, avoid alcoholic beverages, strenuous exercise, and exposure to extensive sun, saunsa, swimming, hot tubs and heat (as these may cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection site). Consult with your provider for further aftercare guidance.
There is little to no downtime for Skinvive treatments. Like with Botox or other injectables, It is recommended to avoid heavy exercise, swimming, saunas, makeup, and sun exposure for the first 24 hours.
