PDO Thread Lift

PDO THREAD LIFT

A leading alternative to surgical facelifts, PDO thread lifting is a revolutionary age-defying treatment that both lifts and rejuvenates the skin almost instantaneously.

Approved by the FDA and known for requiring minimal downtime, PDO thread lifting is quickly rising in popularity amongst those within the aesthetic industry.

WHAT IS A PDO THREAD LIFT?

A PDO thread lift is a non-surgical facelift where facial skin is lifted and tightened using Polydioxanone (PDO) threads. These threads are anchored and inserted into different layers of the skin using needles, instantly lifting and tightening sagging skin. Anywhere from 1-15 threads may be used per section.

There are three main types of PDO threads: mono, cog, and screw threads. Each type is designed for a slightly different treatment and use. For most patients looking for tightening and skin rejuvenation, the mono texture will suffice. Prior to treatment, the skin is anesthetized for minimal discomfort.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A PDO THREAD LIFT?

A PDO thread lift provides instant skin lifting and stimulates collagen production and cellular renewal, improving your skin’s texture for lasting results. For patients who do not want to undergo major surgery, a PDO thread lift can minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, especially over time, with the additional collagen.

HOW LONG DOES A PDO THREAD LIFT LAST?

PDO thread lift last between 18-24 months for most patients! You can have additional treatments to extend the results even further.

HOW IS A PDO THREAD LIFT PERFORMED?

Your skin will be cleansed with Hibiclens to prevent infection. The provider will then mark the areas to be treated and inject a local anesthetic such as Lidocaine. She will begin inserting the threads which may cause minor discomfort. Afterwards, she will cleanse the area and place small bandaid at the insertion points. After care instructions will be provided and a follow up will be scheduled two weeks later.

WHAT SHOULD I DO/NOT DO AFTER A PDO THREAD LIFT?

●  Apply an ice pack to the area(s) treated (avoiding pressure) as this helps reduce swelling and the
potential for bruising.
● You may begin wearing makeup once you have adequately cooled the area(s), and any pinpoint bleeding from the injection site(s) has subsided.
● Avoid massaging the treated area(s) for 4 weeks. When cleansing your face or applying makeup, use gentle, sweeping motions to avoid excessive mobility of the area(s).
● Avoid bath (only shower), strenuous activities/sports for 1 week.
● Avoid Direct Heat, RF, Laser, IPL treatment for 4 weeks.
● AVOID excessive chewing, talking, yawning, smiling, and other facial movements of the treated area(s) for 1 week. You might occasionally feel a small pop to the area. That is OK, the thread is still setting in and it won’t cause any drop of facial structures.
● Keep your head elevated in several pillows for the first 3 nights after the procedure, avoid sleeping in the face down position if you can.
● You may take Acetaminophen/Tylenol if you experience any mild tenderness or discomfort. AVOID aspirin or ibuprofen products as they may increase your potential to bruise.
● AVOID drinking alcohol for a minimum of 12 hours as this may contribute to bruising and/or swelling.
● AVOID extended UV exposure until any redness/swelling has subsided. Be sure to apply an SPF 40 or higher sunscreen.
● If you experience significant bruising following your treatment, please follow our tips and recommendations on bruise reduction. Untreated bruising will generally fade in 5 to 14 days.
● Additional Instructions: Call our office promptly if you experience ANY of the following signs and symptoms: Increasing pain, redness, swelling, significant bruising or darkening at or around the treatment area lasting over 5 days, notable change in temperature to the skin surrounding the treatment area, drainage or fever over 100.5 F or ANY other concerns you may have.

IS THERE DOWNTIME AFTER A PDO THREAD LIFT?

A PDO thread lift is minimally invasive, and therefore recovery time is short. Typically, patients resume regular activity within one week following the procedure.
