IPL Photofacial

IPL PHOTOFACIAL

Lauded for their lasting results, IPL Photofacials — or intense pulsed light treatments — are designed to eliminate stubborn sun spots, age spots, freckles, spider veins, and other such cosmetic-related issues.

IPL Photofacials are not the same as laser treatments. They do, however, utilize powerful, skin-rejuvenating waves of light.

By emitting multiple broadbands of light directly onto the skin, IPL Photofacials heat the hyperactive cells beneath that skin that cause discoloration, as well as molecularly treat the afflicted area. Thus, the results are long-lasting and the process itself is entirely non-invasive.

Moreover, the IPL Photofacial process can be used on most areas of the body including:

  • Neck
  • Face
  • Chest
  • Hands
  • Arms
  • Legs
  • And more

One of the reasons the IPL Photofacial treatment can be used on other parts of the body is because, not only is it effective for treating cosmetic blemishes, but it can also be used to treat vascular lesions and imperfections, like spider veins.

Additionally, patients typically need little to no downtime following their appointment. In fact, most are able to reapply their makeup and go about their day immediately following the treatment process.

Prior to arriving for their scheduled appointment, we encourage patients to maintain a gentle daily skincare routine for one to two weeks. The cleaner and healthier the skin, the more readily it will respond to IPL Photofacial treatment.

Otherwise, appearing and functioning similarly to that of a blinking flashlight, the IPL Photofacial device itself is a handheld instrument that our team will use to pass the light directly over the patient’s chosen treatment area.

Patients may feel warm and potentially uncomfortable where it is applied, but the process is generally painless.

Following their appointment, patients may expect to experience:

  • Darkened age spots and/or freckles for the first week on average
  • Potential temporary crusting around the treatment area
  • Bruises that last approximately one to two weeks

While the results are long-lasting in general, patients who keep up with a healthy skin routine and regularly apply sunscreen whilst outdoors will find their results more easily preserved over time.
